Team Malta at the World Esports Championship 2023 in Romania

Between the 24th of August, and the 4th of September 2023, the Maltese National Esports Team will be present in Iasi, Romania for the 15th World Esports Championship. The World Esports Championship is the yearly event, organised by the International Esports Federation, and featuring participants from 125 member nations!

The 15th World Esports Championship will be the third time that Malta will be participating in such a prestigious event, following the Championship in Indonesia in 2022, and Israel in 2021.

The event in Iasi will feature a $500,000 prizepool, and competitions in the following disciplines:

  • Counter-Strike Global Offensive
  • Counter-Strike Global Offensive Female
  • eFootball
  • Tekken 7
  • Dota 2
  • PUBG Mobile
  • Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

A delegate from the Malta Esports Association will also be present for the Annual General Assembly of the IESF, of which the Malta Esports Association is an Associate Member.

Team Malta for the event will be composed of the two champions from the National Qualifiers:

  • Lyon “Lyonidas” Buhagiar will once again represent Malta in the Tekken 7 discipline;
  • Malcolm “FantiFlames” Said will represent Malta in the eFootball discipline.
