The Malta National Team participated in the inaugural Sim Racing World Cup, organised by the International Esports Federation and the Monaco Esports Federation, due to be held in October 23 2022 at the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco.

National Selection

World Pro Racing was selected to host the Malta National Qualifiers, which took place online on the 14th of July 2022, and broadcasted on TVM Sport, ESTV, Motorsport.tv, Facebook and Youtube.

Ten drivers took part in the qualifier, with Aaron Debattista and Sheldon Muscat placing first and second respectively, after two races.

The two players were selected to form part of the Maltese contingent for the Sim Racing World Cup:

  • Aaron Debattista
  • Sheldon Muscat

 

Regional Qualifiers

Only two players from each continent would make it to the Finals event in Monaco. The European Continental Qualifier was held between the 26th and 29th of July 2022, in Time Lap format. 71 players from around the world participated in the Continental Qualifier.

Aaron Debattista placed 24th in Europe and 45th in the World.
Sheldon Muscat placed 25th in Europe and 47th in the World.

Unfortunately, neither of the Team Malta drivers were able to qualify for the Finals in Monaco.
